Compassionate Support When You Need It
Life can bring unexpected challenges, and at Dorchester Seniors, Inc., we believe no senior should have to face them alone. The Second Chance Program is a grant-funded initiative designed to provide emergency and ongoing support to adults 50+ in Dorchester County who are facing hardship. Our goal is to offer a true “second chance” at stability, safety, and independence through direct assistance and personalized resource navigation.
Through this program, we provide comprehensive support based on eligibility and available funding, addressing essential needs such as food security, safe and healthy living conditions, and financial advocacy. Assistance may include pantry and emergency food support, help with utilities and benefit applications, minor home repairs and accessibility upgrades, as well as transportation and technology support—helping seniors remain safe, secure, and independent in their homes.
We serve the entire county through our two convenient locations. If you are in need, or know a senior who is, please reach out to the center closest to you.
Support the Second Chance Program
The Second Chance Program is made possible through generous grants, community partnerships, and the ongoing support of the Second Chance Thrift Store. Proceeds from the thrift store directly help fund emergency assistance for local seniors, turning donated clothing, household goods, and furniture into real support for neighbors facing hardship. When you shop at the store, donate gently used items, or give directly to Dorchester Seniors, Inc., you are helping provide food security, utility assistance, home safety improvements, and critical resources to adults 50+ in Dorchester County.
